Short answer
Most cannabis pods fit one battery. Both halves come from the same brand. A Pax Era pod fits a Pax Era battery. A Stiiizy pod fits a Stiiizy battery. A Dart pod fits a Dart battery. If your pen has 510 threads, it takes screw-on cartridges, not pods. Read the model name on the battery before you buy a pod.
Two formats: pods and 510 cartridges
- 510-thread cartridge. Metal threads at the base. Fits any 510 battery. Fill sizes run 0.5 g to 1 g.
- Pod. Plastic or metal shell. Magnetic or snap connection. Locked to one battery family. Fill sizes run 0.3 g to 1 g.
Threads are a standard. Pod connections are not. No agency sets a pod spec, so each brand builds a shell that seats in its own battery.
Pod systems sold in US dispensaries
Pax Era
Pax Era and Era Pro batteries take Pax pods. Licensed brands fill Pax pods under the Pax platform. The paired app sets temperature in one-degree steps.
Stiiizy
Stiiizy batteries take Stiiizy pods. Pod sizes and battery models change by state. A Stiiizy pod will not seat in a Pax battery.
how does a cannabis pod system work
Dart and Dart X
Dart pods use a magnetic connection. Several brands fill Dart pods, and those pods fit Dart and Dart X batteries from other brands. Check the case for the Dart mark.
Airo
AiroPro and AiroSport batteries take AiroPod cartridges. Airo also sells 510-thread carts for standard batteries.
How to confirm a fit
- Read the model name printed on the battery.
- Match the pod brand to the battery brand.
- Ask the budtender for the connection type: magnetic, snap, or thread.
- Bring the battery to the counter. Most shops will test a pod on your device.
- Take a draw before you leave the lot.
Voltage and heat
Pods run from 2.4 V to 3.8 V. Distillate works at the low end. Live resin and rosin hold flavor below 3.0 V. Heat above 4.0 V burns terpenes and shortens coil life. A clogged pod often clears with a short preheat, not a long pull.
If no pod fits your pen
Buy a battery that matches the pod brand, or switch to 510 cartridges. Pod batteries run $15 to $40. A 510 battery runs $10 to $30. Some shops sell a starter kit with the battery and pod in one box.
Label and testing facts
Licensed pods carry a batch number, a harvest date, and a license number. State labs test for pesticides, heavy metals, residual solvents, and mold. The CDC tied EVALI cases in 2019 to vitamin E acetate in THC vape products, most from unregulated sellers. Regulated pods do not list vitamin E acetate as an ingredient.
