Advice Before You Buy Bubble Hash
Bubble hash is a cannabis concentrate. Makers use ice water and mesh bags. The process separates trichomes from plant material. The result is a soft, crumbly product. It ranges from sandy to waxy. Check your state law first. Buy from a licensed store or delivery service. Ask for a lab test. A lab test shows THC, CBD, and contaminants. Do not buy without a test. Look at the hash. Good hash has a uniform color. It smells like the strain. It does not smell like chemicals or mold.
Parameters to Check
Ask these questions before you pay.
- Micron size: Bubble hash is graded by micron. Common sizes: 25, 45, 73, 90, 120, 160, 190, 220. Smaller numbers mean finer screens. 73 to 120 micron is full melt. 45 to 160 is half melt. 25 to 45 or 160 to 220 is food grade.
- Grade: Full melt bubbles and melts when heated. Half melt leaves residue. Food grade is for edibles or topping bowls.
- THC and CBD: THC ranges from 20% to 60%. CBD hash ranges from 5% to 20%. Check the label.
- Terpenes: Terpenes give smell and taste. They also affect effects. Ask for a terpene profile.
- Weight: Hash is sold in grams. A gram is 1,000 milligrams. Check the weight on the package.
- Price: Price per gram is $20 to $60. Full melt costs more. Food grade costs less.
- Texture: Sandy hash is dry. Waxy hash is soft. Oily hash is sticky. Texture changes with temperature.
- Color: Blonde is light. Tan is medium. Brown is dark. Color depends on strain and age.
Pitfalls to Avoid
Some sellers cut bubble hash with other substances. Pine resin, beeswax, or low-grade kief are common cuts. These cuts change the melt and taste. A lab test detects cuts. Some sellers mislabel micron size. A 25-micron product may be passed off as 73-micron. Old hash loses potency and terpenes. Proper storage is in a glass jar. Keep it in a cool, dark place. Heat and light degrade hash. High price does not always mean high quality. Compare prices at multiple shops. Avoid street sellers. They do not provide lab tests. They cannot verify the product.
